About

Growing up, I learned to knit, crochet, embroidery and sew.  Later, I did a bunch of research , learned some new things and wrote a book called Vanishing American Needle Arts.

Handmade lace has always fascinated me.  A lot of the techniques aren’t difficult to learn, but most of the projects take hours and hours to finish.  In the current contemporary world, there isn’t much demand for doilies and lace-trimmed handkerchiefs.

While antique shopping, I always find myself sorting through a basket of random linens.  Sometimes I find a badly stained pillowcase with an intricate embroidered design and an inch or two of crocheted trim.  I have rescued more items like that than I want to admit.

What to do with all of it . . .

The idea for Seasonal Details came with a damaged doily. The colors were gorgeous and most of the threads were intact.  Because it was damaged though, I felt free to slash, stitch and add.  The more things I added, the funner it was.  Finally, a way to bring my vintage items into the modern world.

Seasons change.  People and lace can find new purposes.  “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.” Ecclesiastes

If you enjoy creating unique things, I invite you to try one of my kits.  Each themed package has a variety of items for you to work with. The possibilities are endless.  I can’t wait to see what you create!
